TREVOR COHEN, M.D., FRCSC, BC CANCER AGENCY AND VANCOUVER COASTAL HEALTH AUTHORITY; VANCOUVER, BC
Dr. Cohen is a 2001 graduate of the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program at the University of Alberta. After graduation, he did a mini-fellowship in sexual medicine at McMaster University. He then became a staff member at Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife in January of 2002, setting up the first Sexual Medicine Clinic for the North. In 2005, Dr. Cohen completed a year long course in Medical Acupuncture and integrated it into his general practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He also trained in advanced laparoscopy while in Yellowknife and now trains other Ob/Gyns in these techniques.
Dr. Cohen has spoken numerous times on a variety of topics related to sexual medicine, including with respect to cancer patients, and has worked with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologist of Canada (SOGC) to develop Sexual Medicine Guidelines for practitioner’s use. For seven years, Dr. Cohen was based out of the Victoria General Hospital until September of 2011, when he decided to address his interest in oncology and further his knowledge in the area by enrolling in a UBC Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology. His training finished in August 2013.
